It was hours of driving and 3 ferries to get there and then repeat for the way back. But was so worth it!
Me and one of my friends decided that we would do the most difficult of the ways to get from the town of Metlakatla to the Army base, on foot. We got dropped off at the start of the gravel road and walked and walked. The view was amazing as we walking through the Alaskan wilderness.
The base did not disappoint. There was so much stuff left there. The mattresses were all in a big pile at the start of the base. There was still books in some of the lockers and the volleyball net was still hung up, even though the trees had grown through it.
They had everything there! They have a post office and medical building and rows on rows of bunk houses. We explored for an hour or so and had some lunch, then headed back to town. We were very happy when someone from town showed up on a side-by-side to give us a lift back!
