Sailboat - Pender Island

I just thought the photos of this boat are so pretty!

It is always nice to go on a walk and find something you are not expecting. I feel bad for the people who lost their boat though.

Metal Dock - Lake Cowichan

Again sorry for not taking a lot of photos on this one.

This one is on Lake Cowichan. I also do not know what it is and if you can tell me that would be great.

All I know is that it was high and hard to get up on and looked sweet. There was a lot of rusty metal all over the beach in that area as well.

Behind it a little bit further on shore was a lot of poured concrete, maybe from the foundations of some old buildings.

Regan's Holiday Resort - Ladysmith

One day I was taking my Jeep up behind Oyster Bay area and happened to find a big swimming pool!

It was pretty neat, there was also some foundations around it from buildings.

I emailed the Ladysmith & District Historical Society to see if they had any information on it, they were able to send a news paper article that said there was once a resort not far from the main highway.

It was called Regan's Holiday Resort (formally known as Troutland). The pool was opened July 17, 1965. There are details on the opening in the newspaper.

I also asked if they have any information on when or why it closed. The only information they had is it is believe to have closed in the early 1970's perhaps the pool was leaking and was to expensive to fix.

Abandoned Train - Cowichan Valley, BC

I don't have a ton of photos of this one, sorry.

We were out 4x4ing and stayed out a little late so they are also really dark.

We found this train car, it looks like it was made to process trees. It was nice of neat to climb around on, it also went a bit into the woods. It part I took pictures of is right on the side of the dirt road.

The pictures don't really do it justice as they only show part of it. I guess you will just have get out there and find it yourself!

Hall of Wonders - Victoria

Ok this place I know like a little about this time!!

The hall of wonders is a tunnel that used to be an open river or creek. When Victoria was in a housing boom they needed more space to house people so they covered the river to make room. Now that river and I think a couple more run under the city.

I have even heard a story that when they were building someone had forgotten there was a river under there and part of it collapsed as it was only made out of wood at one time.

I haven't fact checked that but it sounds true enough.

The whole tunnel is now made from cement and there are many off shoots as it collects water from the city. So it is kinda gross down there.

Bring boots if you happen to go.

The tunnel goes pretty far and there is some interesting graffiti down there.

Mine - North Vancouver Island

My most favorite places in the world... underground mines!! They are soooo interesting to be in! You have to be very careful and go prepared! Remember to also let someone know were you are going and when you will be back.

I know like nothing about this mine just that is huge and goes on forever and is super cool. I love how the entrance is so tiny looking and then you go in there and can walk around for hours!

Then you take a couple of steps in and you are in a different world!

Just looking through my pictures makes me want to go back there right now!!

Down there was a huge lake and big pieces of machinery. Shovels and buckets and empty bags of explosives. There was also a glove floating in the flooded tunnel and it scared the pants almost clear off me!

I wish I could have been down there when it was a working mine, I feel like it would have been so exciting!!

Log Cabin in the Woods - Ladysmith

Most of my next post will be from my memories but this first one will be fresh!!

I was up behind Ladysmith, BC today and yelled for the vehicle to be stopped! I had seen in the corner of my eye a small little building in the woods. We backed up and found that what I had seen was the outhouse for an old log cabin!

Isn't it cute!! There was 2 little beds and a very rusty stove in there, as well as a bunch of garbage. It also contained the largest spider I think I have ever seen! I don't know how long it has been here for but some of the writing inside says 1990's so it is at least that old.

My favorite part was that someone had used old red shag carpet to insulated between the logs. Nothing like a nice pop of colour!

It also has a doorless outhouse so you can poop and be one with nature.

Welcome!

Welcome!!

Well COVID sucks hey... Yup. I was sitting in my house looking through the over 2000 photos on my phone remembering the good old days and thought "wow! I have seen some cool things!"

I have decided to let the probably like 5 people that will see this, see how cool all the stuff I have seen is. Most is abandoned things in the woods but some could be cool natural occurrences like caves and such. There might also be a few that are on a paid tour (I like free things so there won't be many of those).

Please remember that when you are in the woods to be very respectful of the area and not to wreck the stuff you find but leave them for others to enjoy as well.

Some of you might also want to know exactly where all these cool things are but you are just going to have to do what I did and figure it out.

Also Disclaimer - Trespassing is bad don't do it!

If you happen to know any information on some of the places I find, please add a comment cause I love to know more about them.

Enjoy!!
